Candidates can maximize their express entry points by scoring an eligible job opportunity from a Canadian employer and obtaining an invitation to apply for an express entry visa for Canada. Though, not all job offers are eligible for express entry points. The higher the number of express entry points you have under the CRS scores, the higher are your chances of getting an invitation. This procedure is referred to as arranged employment or a valid job offer. It provides you with an opportunity to increase your CRS score by adding around express entry points of 50-200 at least.

Eligible Job Offers

Your express entry profile can earn CRS points through specific job offers only. The job offer you receive should be considered valid under the express entry terms. According to IRCC, a job offer is valid when it is for a job that is-

  • Full-time, non-seasonal
  • At least one year offer
  • Skill level should be 0, A, or B
  • Supported or exempted from needing an LMIA, i.e., Labor Market Impact Assessment

Suppose you are trying for Canada PR immigration through Express Entry. In that case, you need to provide a duplicate of the written job offer outlining your status, duties and responsibilities, income, and employment situation. You also need to attach proof of your LMIA or LMIA exemption.

How Many Points Can One Earn for a Job Offer in Express Entry?

People from foreign countries who got job offers in Canada can get up to-

  • 200 CRS Points- You can receive 200 points for a job offer in a NOC 00 job. E.g., getting a job for the position of business self-employed, owner-operators, entrepreneurs, executives, senior managers, or in Canada.
  • 50 CRS Points- You can earn 50 CRS points for a NOC 0, NOC A, or B job offer. E.g., getting a job for professionals or mid-level managers in Canada.

Eligibility Criteria for Claiming Express Entry Points

If you get a job offer in Canada, it is not enough. Certain eligibility requirements need to be met to claim the offer points of the Express Entry job offers.

The foreign employee can claim extra 50 or 200 points if they meet the following requirements-

  • Made by one employer only
  • Continuous
  • Full-time

  • It should be a NOC job: SKILL TYPE 0, A, or B.

The foreign employee doesn’t have to work in Canada until their application is approved. The LMIA must be valid for a permanent resident visa application, i.e., since the LMIA issue date, less than six months must have passed.

These three categories should be met to apply for a Canada Express Entry PR visa.

Conclusion

If you meet the eligibility conditions, you can earn an additional 50 to 200 points for a Canadian job offer. Unfortunately, though, it is not very easy to obtain these points. Also, the immigration officer who will review your application must be fully convinced that you will do the job you are being offered. So make sure to check all the red flags that make you think whether the job offer is legit or not, and then apply for a better future.
