“Nahargarh” literally means “tiger abode.” Behind the name of this fortress is an interesting story.
The fortress was originally called “Sudarshan Garh”, but there were many problems in its construction. It is believed that the spirit of a prince named “Nahar Singh Bhomia” haunted this place and prevented construction.
One day the king saw this prince in a dream. In honor of this spirit, this fort was named “Nahargarh”. A temple dedicated to him was also erected on the premises of the fortress.
