Decorating for the holidays is a lot of fun. And, if you’re like us, you’ll want to plan your decor with your budget in mind. We’ve come up with a few ideas to keep the holiday spirit alive and well in your apartment without breaking the bank.
Make Use of Decorative Bows
Purchase a few rolls of ribbon to get the holiday season started. You can tie them around chairs at your dining room table, hang them from doorknobs in your bedroom and bathroom, or tie them onto holiday wreaths! Colourful, sparkly, or patterned ribbons will add a splash of colour and sparkle to your holiday decorations.
Create Your Wreath
Making your wreath usually costs approximately $20, which is substantially cheaper than purchasing one. In this manner, your wreaths will be unique! To make things easier on yourself, get a medium-sized artificial wreath, some ribbon, and a few ball-shaped decorations, red berries, or other glittering extras.
Scented Candles for the Holidays
Holiday-themed candles will not just fill your apartment with the scent of the season. They are decor in and of themselves! They’re the ideal way to brighten up the frigid weather this Christmas season. Instead, if you have dogs or small children, use a plug-in aroma warmer. That way, you may keep it on a counter or shelf away from your children.
Make Eating Decorative Pieces
Fill glass jars with Christmas sweets (like green and red mints or candy canes). Tie a ribbon all-around center and place them throughout the flat. If you have any leftover candy canes (that haven’t been eaten), you can have them as edible decorations on your tree or as a swirl in your holiday mix!
Use Natural Elements to Decorate Your Table
Plates, bowls, glasses, napkins and holders, and tablecloths are all relatively reasonable at craft and home décor stores. Consider candles, a bowl of glittering ornaments, and natural components like twigs, pinecones, and leftover Christmas tree branches for low-cost centrepieces.
Begin with a floral foam block and set it in a colourful container to make a natural centrepiece. Insert the tree branches into the foam and arrange them as desired. Then, add a few pinecones, flowers, and ribbons to complete your natural centrepiece.
Use Ornaments Throughout the Home
If you have any extra decorations that didn’t fit on the tree, use them elsewhere in your residence! You may use them to fill a covered cake plate, as decoration in a ceramic bowl, on wreaths, or in your greenery that’s wrapped around your staircase or chimney.
Recycle Your Holiday Cards
Place Holiday cards you’ve received (this year and in previous years) on bookshelves and mantles to add a distinctive, personalized touch to your residence. String them along the stairwell railing or the fireplace mantel. Guests will like having their Holiday cards displayed in your home, and it is completely free of charge for you.
