Between 1986-1988, she was director of public events and campus relations.
She had been employed by the university as director of university relations since 1988.
She managed the University Park employee campaign for United Way, was a member of the board and president of Lion Country Visitors and Convention Bureau from 1985-1995.
She had been a member of the State College Chamber of Commerce public relations committee from 1986 until her death; she was a member of the Commission for Women at Penn State; and from 1986 until 1989, she was a member of the Pennsylvania Angus Auxiliary, where she also served as president. Prior to his retirement, Mr.
Maroney had been employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Corrections as deputy superintendent at the State Correctional Institution in Pittsburgh and previously at the State Correctional Institution Huntingdon.
Born March 5, 1943, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Willard Deibler Zimmerman and Mary Belle (Campbell) Zimmerman, who survives in Foxdale Village, State College.
One brother, Lawrence Ralph Zimmerman of Felton, Calif.
Rugh had attended the Sunbury High School and graduated from Penn State University in 1965.
The next year, she was an instructor in agriculture communications for the College of Agriculture at Penn State and was a part of a teaching team for agricultural education.
From 1978 until 1985, she was the manager of the campus relations department of public information and relations at Penn State.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept.
