The word ” Ar Rehman ” is one of the ninety-nine beautiful names of the Almighty Allah. Rahman means ” The most beneficient ” which is one of the qualities of our lord. It is the first verse of this Surah. The Surah Ar Rehman is all about the blessings and favors that our lord Almighty Allah has granted us.
This Surah reminds us that there is only one power in this whole world which is our lord the Almighty Allah. This Surah has a total of seventy-eight verses. It has 352 words and 1585 Arabic letters. The Surah Rahman was revealed in the city of Medina (but some Islamic scholars also claim that it was revealed in Makkah).
It is on the fifty-fifth number in the Holy Quran. This Surah is also known as ” Bride of the Quran” or ” The beauty of the Quran “. In this Surah, the humans and jinns have been addressed directly by Allah. The Surah Rahman is a way to build a great connection with the almighty Allah. This Surah possesses the power to heal the person.

So, which of the favor of your lord would you deny?
مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ
He released the two seas, meeting (side by side)
يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ تَنْفُذُوا مِنْ أَقْطَارِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوا ۚ لَا تَنْفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَانٍ
Oh ! company of jinn and mankind, if you can pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority (from Allah).
Tafseer of the Surah Rahman
The Surah Rahman is all about the rewards and blessings from Allah s.w.t to the one who follows his path. In this surah, the main statement is:
‘’ Which of the favors of your lord would you deny? ‘’
that is questioning mankind and jinns and making them realize that the Almighty Allah is the most beneficient and the merciful, who has blessed you with a lot of bounties and rewards, he is the provider of all the blessings, and every action is in his command. He is the King, the Sustainer, and the most Merciful, these are the facts that no one can deny. So, it is clear that we can never deny any of his blessings. Doubtlessly, we are also not able to deny that Allah is the only power.
In the verses of Surah Rehman, Allah s.w.t has listed all the blessings that he has given us. In this Surah, he has enumerated many signs in which his mercy upon us is clearly shown.
Verses of Surah Rahman
He is the creator of mankind. None other than him has the power to create mankind. ‘’ He has created mankind from clay” 55[14]. He is the one who taught humans to speak so they can be differentiated from other creatures. “He has created the jinns from the smokeless flame of fire” 55[15]. In this Surah, the Almighty Allah has mentioned that he has created this universe with the perfect balance. The Sun, Moon, and Stars in fact everything is in their Perfect and stabilized state. Moreover, every creature, including humans, animals, jinns, and even the creatures existing under the Sea are also in perfect fairness, justice, and balance. No one except the Almighty can ever disturb or interrupt this balance. He has asked humanity to make buys and purchases in a precise manner, so there should be no injustice.
This blessed Surah has highlighted one of the great miracles of Allah s.w.t that he has created everything in a great manner. All of the celestial bodies: the stars, moon, and all the other planets are revolving around the Sun.
Beauty of Surah Rahman
All of the trees are standing on Earth and only bow down to the Almighty Allah. It is his great blessing that he has established a lot of creatures on Earth, made all the arrangements for them, and provided food to each of them. In this Surah, Allah s.w.t has also explained how beautifully he has created the date and palm tree, enclosed some fruit in shells, and gave them a sweet taste, So we humans can eat them. He is the one who provides livelihood and subsistence to everyone and barring no soul throughout this universe.
Surah Rehman also talks about the miracles and the wonders of the Sea that he has created two colored seas beside each other and placed an invisible barrier in between so that none of them cross each other.
Surah Rehman is the awakening call for human beings. In this Surah, Allah s.w.t has also discussed the end of the world that when the universe will collapse, the mountains will topple over and the Sun will come on Earth. On that day, everyone will be responsible for their deeds, every soul will be questioned about their life in this temporary world and, no one will care about anyone other than themselves. That day will be the day of judgment (qayammah).
The Almighty Allah has also mentioned a piece of good news for all those who have prepared themselves for the life hereafter, did good deeds, and fed their soul with the goodness of Allah’s will. The beautiful reward of Jannah is waiting for them and those who have spent their lives in worldly pleasure will taste a fire of hell which is waiting for them.

Surah Rahman’s benefits are enormous. One can never understand how beneficial this Surah is. It is full of bounties.
Brings closer to Allah:

The Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) thoughts on surah Rehman:
Surah Rahman is regarded as the “Beauty of the Quran” because of its beautiful verses and great meaning. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) also loved this surah a lot. He said about this Surah that “Everything has an adornment and the adornment of the Holy Quran is Surah Rahman”. Tirmidhi says that Once the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was reciting Surah Rehman for his companions. When the recitation was complete, all were quiet. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that I recited this Surah to jinns as well and their response was better than yours. When I recited these lines “and which of the favor of your lord would you deny?” they said that none of the favor of our lord we deny, and all the honors belong to him only.
