McCartney attended the Mount Union schools and was a veteran of the U.
He worked as a truck driver for 32 years, most recently for Superservice in Beavertown and Wilson Freight Co.
He was a member of the Mount Union VFW Post, the Rockhill American Legion and the Mill Creek Fire Company.
