Triund Trek: All you need to know about

Himachal Pradesh’s Triund Trek is a peaceful, easy, and scenic trek that is also one of the most popular in the country. The Triund trek, located on one side of the misty Dhauladhar ranges and the other side of the breathtaking Kangra Valley, is ideal for both first-time trekkers and experienced trekkers or adventure seekers.


Hike through oak and rhododendron forests, peaceful and sunny meadows, and tricky curves, pausing for tea and snacks along the way. There are rock-cut caves after the trek’s endpoint that are unique to this trek.


How To Get There?


You can fly directly to Dharamshala from Delhi or take a connecting flight from wherever you are.



You can also take an overnight bus from Delhi to Dharamshala, then a cab to Dharamkot to begin your trek. Cabs are plentiful at Dharamshala International Airport. You can book a self-drive cab from Delhi to Dharamshala for your stay and return trip.



The nearest rail station is Pathankot. Many Jammu trains stop here. To travel to Delhi from Pathankot, take the Delhi-Pathankot SuperFast Express or, if coming from Mumbai, take the Mumbai-Jammu Tawi express. Take a bus or a cab from Pathankot to Dharamshala, which is about 2 to 3 hours away.



Traveling by bus from Delhi to Dharamshala costs between Rs. 600 and Rs. 1300, depending on whether you take a regular or a Volvo bus. Taxis from Dharamshala airport to Dharamkot cost around Rs. 2000. If booked online, a three-day trip in a self-drive car with a driver would cost around Rs. 10,000.


The cost of food per day will range between Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000.

The weather at different times of the year


The weather in January is bearable, despite the cold. The clear vistas of the Dhauladhar make up for the effort. Temperatures range from 10 to 1 degree Celsius.


Although February is a cold month, the weather begins to warm up and become more pleasant. The temperature range is 12 to 5 degrees Celsius.


In March, as the snow melts, spectacular views of the Dhauladhar range become available. It’s one of the best seasons to visit Triund. Temperatures range between 18 and 8 degrees Celsius.


Visit Triund in April to be enchanted by its beauty, as the weather is pleasant and dry. Temperatures range between 20 and 12 degrees Celsius.


Despite the pleasant weather, some unexpected showers are possible in the second half of the month. The temperature ranges from 26 to 13 degrees Celsius in May.
