Understanding Color Blind Glasses

Most of us are familiar with the term “color vision deficiency,” but it is not always known that there are actually different types of color vision deficiency. In addition, it is not usually known how eyeglasses and vision aids in general affect eyes with color vision loss. However, recent research shows that the optical industry has developed a new technology that could be useful!

First of all, the term “color blind glasses” is actually a bit misleading.

Recently, the term “color vision disorder” has become more common in the literature, as it does not mean blindness, but rather the inability to see colors in general or to detect color differences under certain lighting conditions where color vision was not previously impaired. In addition, there are different types of color vision disorders: Monochromatism, Dichromatism and Abnormal Trichromatism.

These three types of inherited or congenital deficits can be further subdivided. The spectrum ranges from total color blind glasses – or: monochromatism – to specific loss of pigment. In addition, males are much more likely to develop color deficiency than females. The X chromosome carries the gene that produces the photopigments, so all optical problems will originate from it. However, since women have two of them, they are much more likely to have one of the X chromosomes without problems, so color blind glasses is out of the question for them; men, on the other hand, have only one X chromosome, and if that chromosome is optically problematic, it will be affected.

In recent years, thanks to advances in technology, special glasses have been invented to help correct some of the problems associated with color blind glasses. Glasses to correct color blind glasses are met with skepticism, but research is proving that they work.

Of course,

More research needs to be done, but for now, this device could be useful for those who suffer from color blind glasses in their lives. The glasses have a special coating – similar to sunglasses – that enhances certain pigments that are important for defective eyes.

They are by no means a cure for visual impairment, but merely an aid that can help sufferers use what they have to see the colors they lack. Until now, unfortunately, it has not been possible to make special eyeglass lenses that can help people with red-green color blind glasses. However, since about eighty percent of people with color blind glasses suffer from red-green color blind glasses, this can be very helpful right now.

Not everyone has followed the trend of correcting color blind glasses with glasses.

However, if you have other eye problems, you should definitely invest in a good pair of glasses. So whether you need lenses to correct simple vision distortion or color vision impairment, try to get up-to-date information about your needs as often as possible. You only have one pair of eyes, so take good care of them!
