Vince Vaughn Chases Justice — and Brings the Laughs — in Bad Monkey Trailer

The upcoming series — based on Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 novel of the same name — premieres August 14 on Apple TV+

Vince Vaughn is on a mission to find a murderer.

On Wednesday, July 24, Apple TV+ unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming series Bad Monkey, starring and executive produced by Vaughn.

Based on Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, the 10-episode series finds Vaughn playing Andrew Yancy, a man “who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys,” according an official synopsis.

“After stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey,” the description continues.

The trailer begins with Andrew sitting in a beach chair as he explains his situation to Rogelio (John Ortiz).

“I’m suspended. I’m technically not a detective anymore. They said I was consistently reckless, inappropriate, and glib,” he says as the video cuts to a clip of Andrew shooting a gun in the air and crashing into a golf cart.

Rogelio then tells him, “You want your job back? I’ve got something that the sheriff wants you to drive to Miami.”

After finding out that the “something” is a severed arm, he learns that it belongs to the dead husband of Eve Stripling (Meredith Hagner).

Once Andrew and Eve meet, he becomes suspicious about what really happened to her husband, especially after learning that “Eve is in the Bahamas to grieve.”

The trailer then gives a preview of Andrew’s mission to find the killer in a world where “everyone is a killer.”

However, the tables quickly turn as Andrew become a suspect in the murder. He says, “On a scale from one to 10, how screwed am I?”

“A million,” Detective Harrington (Brandon Sirota) says and he responds, “You couldn’t just say 10? You don’t think I understand that 10 is bad?”

Joining the actors are L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Natalie Martinez, Alex Moffat, Michelle Monaghan, Ronald Peet, and Jodie Turner-Smith. The series will feature guest stars including Zach Braff, Ashley Nicole Black, Scott Glenn, and Charlotte Lawrence in her television debut.
