Ready photo gallery software is the perfect way to keep in touch with family and friends over the internet. An open source photo organizing software mainly aims to meet your needs and specifications. You can decide what your site should look like and what your site members will take away from it. You are the administrator here. It feels good to be your own boss, doesn’t it?

Here are some reasons why ready-made photo gallery software is the best choice:

  1. Efficient – Ready-made photo gallery software is perfect for someone who knows enough about PHP and HTML codes but not enough to build their own website from scratch. This software already provides you with a platform on which to build the website. All you have to do is install it and go from there.
  2. Simple – This type of software is easy to understand and even easier to use. You and your users will enjoy the different ways to upload your photo albums. In this scenario, your creativity is entirely up to you.
  3. Saves Time – The ready-made photo management software can save you the time and effort of creating your own website from scratch. You don’t have to worry about how to send all those photos at once or how grandma in England can see her newest grandchild’s first birthday. With the ready-made photo gallery software, all of this is just one upload away.
  4. Best Organization – Picture gallery software is a great way to organize and store your most treasured memories. Yes, developing real photos is still a wonderful idea, but if you want to send albums around the world for free, the best way is to create a photo gallery website and allow your users to copy and save your photos as is you like it. After all, sharing is important and since photos are memories, wouldn’t you want to share that too?
  5. Easy to Use – Don’t be afraid of what online photo gallery software can do for you. It can do a lot. It can generate better business revenue and make you look professional to family, friends, and co-workers alike. Just try it out and benefit from the advantages.

Photo Editing Software

A good friend of mine argues that the perfect photograph is one that requires absolutely no adjustments after the shutter has been released. Another friend who is enrolled in a prescribed photography program had an instructor who insisted that all photos taken with digital cameras needed to be sharpened. My own take on using photo editing software is that your actions should enhance the original image but not significantly alter it to achieve the desired result.

Sometimes this means cropping a bit and increasing the contrast. In other cases, I can use the clone or heal tool to remove a distracting element. And sometimes adjustments to the levels are needed to make the final image more closely resemble the colors I saw when photographing.

Below are just a few examples of available photo editing software. They can be broadly divided into three categories: purchased software that you install on your computer, freeware or shareware that you install, and web-based programs that have you upload your images and edit them in cyberspace.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe’s Photoshop was the standard by which all image editing programs are judged. After many iterations , they replaced the high price (about $650) for the software with a subscription to an online service. This allows them to update features on the fly and provide subscribers with the most up-to-date version – which has more features than you could ever imagine. You might still be able to find older versions at a hefty discount and know they’ll cover all your needs if you want the software on your computer (for those who don’t always have a good internet connection). This program is so ubiquitous that it has become a verb (“yes, the image was photoshopped “).

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom As a photo editor

Lightroom offers fewer features than Photoshop but is very useful for streamlining the workflow and organizing your photos. Professional photographers value it for its ability to process large volumes of photos. The price point is around $150.

Corel Paint Shop Pro

Paint Shop Pro is popular with many photographers because it has a small price (about $30) but still has all the features that most photo editors need.

Google Picasa

When it was first released, Picasa was just an photo organizing software. The new version includes the editing features most used by photographers. Oh, and it’s free from Google.

GNU Image Manipulation Program is another free program. It shares many of Photoshop’s features, but is far from intuitive for those who are just getting started with photo editing.

PhotoScape, another free photo editor, also has batch processing features that are popular with photographers who take a lot of pictures.

Another web-based photo editing tool. I tried this one and found it very easy and versatile. It also works with both uploaded photos and photos that are already on the web.
